Diesel generators usually emit some black smoke at the beginning of new engine tests. As a result, black smoke is emitted when the machine is turned on. After a period of start-up, the smoke color of the generator set is normal, usually light blue, and very rare. But when something goes wrong with the generator, its smoke doesn't have the right color for a number of reasons.

1. After the generator set exhaust pipe is connected with the starting switch, a large amount of black smoke is discharged, but the generator cannot be started. First check whether the exhaust channel is unblocked, such as whether the air filter is blocked, whether the intake hose sag flat, whether the inner hole wall falls off, whether the exhaust brake room is open.

If the engine has a knocking sound and black smoke, it indicates that the injection time is too early, and the injection timing should be readjust. Under normal circumstances, this is due to the injection pump coupling screw loosening, shaft key damage or passive dislocation caused. If no problem, can according to the following method to check injection time: the first a cylinder of high pressure oil pipe, make the fuel injection system of oil valve seat center hole of the surface of the oil pressure is clearly visible, put oil gear oil supply position, will the air from the vent screw pump in oil, slowly rotate the crankshaft, carefully observe the oil pump outlet valve the liquid surface. As soon as the liquid surface changes, indicating the start of fuel supply, immediately stop the crankshaft and check that the Angle is correct before injection. At this point, the time line of the connecting plate of the fuel injection pump should coincide with the carving line on the pump body.

2. Uniform operation, no high-speed operation, too little smoke exhaust.

It can be judged from the fault phenomenon that the engine speed is not high because the maximum fuel supply cannot be obtained. For diagnosis, exhaust in the order in which the air is removed from the oil supply system before checking in accordance with the following procedure.

A. Check the travel of the throttle lever. Press the accelerator to the bottom and pull the oil volume regulating arm of the fuel injection pump. If the oil volume can still develop to the direction of refueling, it shows that the throttle rod can not maximize the fuel supply of the injection pump, should be adjusted.

B. Check the oil supply. First, check and adjust the maximum fuel supply limiting screw of the speed limiting screw of the governor. Rotate the high speed limiting screw, vice versa, and vice versa; Turning the maximum oil limit screw increases the oil supply and vice versa. When the two adjusting screws are rotated in the direction of increase, the engine feels strong, indicating symptoms in this position. The oil supply should be adjusted until the exhaust pipe emits black smoke during rapid acceleration. Secondly, should check the injection pump, governor and other high-pressure oil circuit parts.

If all of the above items are in order, the pressure of the faulty individual cylinder can be tested to determine if there is wear or leakage due to poor cylinder, piston, piston ring, or valve seal.
