Analysis of main electrical performance indexes of Perkins diesel generator set

The electrical performance index of diesel generator set is not only the standard to measure the power supply quality of the unit, but also the main basis for the correct use and maintenance of the unit. The main electrical performance indexes of diesel generator set include steady state indexes and dynamic indexes.

The electrical performance indicators of a generator set under a certain load are called steady state indicators.

Rating For a generator set, the rating is the data indicated on the unit's nameplate.

（1）Phase: The output voltage of the generator set can be single-phase or three-phase.

（2）RatedFrequency: the voltage frequency of the diesel generator set running at rated speed, called rated frequency. In our country, the requirement of general electric equipment is rated frequency of 50Hz, and the requirement of special electric equipment is rated frequency of 400Hz or 800Hz(medium frequency). The ordinary generator set can only emit alternating current of one kind of frequency. Special generator sets can simultaneously produce alternating current of two different frequencies.

（3）Rated speed (RatedSpeed): At present, the rated speed of small and medium-sized diesel generator sets is generally 1500r/min. With the improvement of diesel engine structure and manufacturing technology level, the rated speed of the unit will be gradually increased.

（4）Rated voltage (RatedVoltage): The no-load voltage of a diesel generator set operating at rated speed is called its rated voltage. Typically, single-phase diesel generators are rated at 230V(220V) and three-phase diesel generators at 400V(380V).

（5）RatedCurrent: The output current of the generator set when it outputs rated voltage and rated power (or rated capacity) is called rated current. The unit is amperes (A).

（6）Rated capacity/power rating (RatedCapacity/RatedOutput) : the rated voltage and rated current of the diesel generator set product called nominal capacity of the unit. The unit is volt ampere (V.A) or kilovolt ampere (kV.A). The nameplate of the generator set is usually marked with rated power, rated power is equal to the product of rated capacity and rated power factor, or equal to the product of rated voltage, rated current and rated power factor, in watts (W) or kilowatts (kW).

（7）Maximum output capacity/maximum output power (MaxCapacity/MaxOutput): The output capacity (output power) of the generator set is allowed to be overloaded for a short time, generally 110% of the rated output capacity (output power).

Rated power factor (RatedFactor): the rated output power of the unit (active power) and rated capacity (apparent power) ratio known as the rated power factor of the unit. When the capacity of the unit is timed, the higher its power factor, the more active power it outputs and the higher the utilization rate of the unit. - Under normal circumstances, the power factor of the unit shall not be lower than 0.8.(2) no load voltage adjustment range u. When the unit runs stably, its no-load voltage should be able to be adjusted in a certain range, which is because there is a certain cable voltage drop between the unit and the electrical equipment. The unit should ensure that the output cable end still has a normal working voltage under a certain load.
