Causes of early cylinder wear in MTU diesel generator

1. The newly bought diesel generator or just after overhaul is put into operation without strict running-in test, resulting in early wear of cylinder and other parts.

2. Long-term engine overload operation, so that the temperature rise, lubricating oil thinning, poor lubrication, accelerate the wear of cylinder liner, piston and piston ring and other parts.

3. When the diesel generator is idle for a long time, the machine temperature is too low, the lubrication is poor, the combustion is incomplete, the carbon accumulation is much, and the early wear of the cylinder is accelerated.

4. After engine extinguishing, the oil in the lubricating oil road soon flows back to the oil pan. Frequent starting will make the surface of the cylinder liner, piston ring and other parts in a state of dry friction or semi-dry friction, accelerating the wear of the cylinder liner.

5. Do not pay attention to the maintenance of the air filter, resulting in serious blockage of the air filter element, without the air filter directly into the cylinder.

6. After the oil is used for a certain time, it gradually ages and deteriorates, loses lubrication, and is mixed with some mechanical impurities to cause abrasive wear.

7. Fuel supply during engine starting and preheating. When the temperature of multi-cylinder diesel engine is lower than 5℃, it must be fully preheated before it can supply oil to the cylinder. However, during the preheating period, it is not only difficult to start, but also the fuel injected in advance, because of incomplete calcination, the carbon accumulation in the cylinder increases and the wear is accelerated.
