Method of removing carbon deposition from combustion chamber of Perkins diesel generator

Some parts of the diesel generator set (such as cylinder head, cylinder liner, piston, piston ring, valve, combustion chamber, fuel injector, etc.) after a period of use, the surface of the parts is stuck with a layer of solid carbon. It has dense, loose, soft shape, color from black to gray, the temperature of the formation part is about 200℃. Carbon deposition is a complex mixture formed by incomplete combustion of diesel oil and oil infiltrating into the cylinder. Due to the poor thermal conductivity of carbon, the accumulation of a large amount of carbon on the surface of the parts will lead to local overheating of the parts, so that the stiffness and strength of the parts are decreased, and it will also cause serious accidents such as fuel injection nozzle sintering, valve ablation, piston ring stuck and cylinder pulling. At the same time, the high temperature particles of carbon accumulation in the combustion chamber will also cause surface ignition, resulting in a decrease in power (according to the relevant experimental data, power decreased by 2 ~ 15%) and combustor volume decreases, the actual compression ratio increases, the formation of early combustion and deignition and other adverse phenomena. In addition, a large amount of accumulation of carbon will pollute the lubrication system, block the oil circuit and filter, shorten the service life of the diesel engine, so it must be removed during repair.


(1) Mechanical method


Mechanical method is the use of steel wire brush, bamboo or sand cloth grinding to remove the method of carbon deposition, according to the shape of parts cleaning parts made of special brush, such as the removal of carbon around the injector nozzle hole can be brushed clean fine copper wire, pressure chamber with copper wire made of special needle inserted into the scraping. Valve guide, valve seat carbon can be removed by a cylindrical metal brush.


Mechanical removal of carbon deposition efficiency is low, the removal quality is poor, some parts are difficult to scrape clean, will leave many small scratches, become the growth point of new carbon deposition, damage the roughness of the parts. Therefore, high precision parts should not be used this method.


(2) nuclear spraying method


The method of core spraying is to spray the core shell particles of crushed walnut, peach and apricot to the surface of the parts to remove the carbon deposition. This method in addition to the high efficiency of carbon deposition, thoroughly clean, but the need for special equipment to form high-speed airflow, the relative cost is relatively high, so it is not widely used.


(3) Chemical method


Chemical method is the use of a chemical solvent a carbon removal agent to soften the carbon on the surface of the parts, so that it loses the ability to combine with the metal, and then the softened carbon removal method. This method has the advantages of high efficiency, good effect in addition to carbon deposition, and not easy to damage the surface of parts. Decarbonizing agent is generally composed of carbon solvent, diluent, sustained release agent and active agent. There are many kinds of decarbonizing agent, such as steel parts and aluminum parts according to different metal parts materials. This is because some decarbonization agent contains chemical corrosion of aluminum products (such as caustic soda), so only suitable for steel decarbonization.


1) inorganic decarbonator. It is made up of inorganic drugs and water and needs to be heated for use.


When using inorganic decarbonizing agent, the solution is heated to 80 ~ 90℃, and the parts are soaked in the solution for 2h, and removed after softening of carbon deposition. Then BRUSH with a brush to remove the transformed carbon, and then clean with hot water containing 0.1 ~ 0.3% potassium dichromate, dry with a soft cloth, so as not to rust.


2) organic decarbonator. The decARBONIZING SOLVENT PREPARED BY organic SOLVENT has strong DECARBONizing ability, NO corrosion TO metal, and can be used at room temperature, mainly used for DECARbonizing precision parts.


Acetate 4.5%, ethanol 22%, acetone 1.5%, benzene 40.8%, stone vinegar 1.2%, ammonia 30%. When preparing, just weigh and mix evenly according to the above weight percentage. When using the parts into the solvent to soak 2 ~ 3h, after taking out with a brush dipped in gasoline, brush to remove the softened carbon, the solvent has a corrosive effect on copper, so it is not suitable for copper parts carbon, steel, aluminum parts without corrosion. The formula also has the function of removing the old paint layer, and should have good ventilation conditions when used.
