Brief analysis on how to replace MTU diesel generator oil and oil filter correctly

Today, I would like to share with you how to correctly replace generator oil and oil filter, as follows.

Shut down the engine and make sure the oil temperature is reduced to at least 60℃;

a. Open the oil filling cap, unscrew the oil drain wire block according to the following figure, open the white oil drain valve under the oil filter, and operate the manual oil pump to drain the oil from the oil pan; After the oil is completely pumped, close the white drain valve, clean the oil drain wire plug thread and sealing surface, install and tighten the wire plug (torque 45 Niu/m); Unscrew the oil filling cap, add new oil, check the oil level through the oil level scale, oil level rises more than "L" but lower than "H", stop refueling, cover the oil filling cap;

b. Replace the oil filter:

Use the oil filter wrench to remove the full-flow bypass oil filter. If the filter failure analysis is not required, the replaced oil filter can be processed according to the relevant local regulations.

Clean the sealing surface of the head of the oil filter with a cloth without lint;

c. Replace the oil filter:

Lubricate the rubber seal of the filter with oil, then replenish the oil filter with clean oil

Install oil filter according to manufacturer's requirement;

d. Replace the fuel filter:

Remove the fuel filter with the filter wrench;

Remove the threaded joint seal ring, then wipe the surface with the gasket with a clean lint-free cloth to remove any debris or dirt;

Install a new threaded joint seal ring on the new fuel filter. The fuel-water separator or fuel filter and water separator must be installed in combination. Fill the filter with clean fuel.

Install the filter, after the gasket touches the surface of the filter head, tighten it again by 1/2 to 3/4 turn, open the fuel shut-off valve, and check the leakage;

e. Replace the water filter by referring to the replacement method of the oil filter and fuel filter mentioned above;

f. Check the generator air filter and clean or replace it according to the site situation;

Generator air filter should be checked frequently to determine. Appropriate maintenance interval;
